Methods for choosing faucet sizes

Confirm the height of the installation space

Measure the vertical distance from the sink, washbasin or countertop to the upper cabinet (such as a wall cabinet) to ensure that the faucet does not fail to stand up completely due to insufficient height or touch the bottom of the cabinet due to being too high after installation. For a general kitchen sink, the faucet should be at least 25 to 30 centimeters in height, while for a bathroom washbasin, it should be 15 to 20 centimeters.

Measure the size of the sink/washbasin

Check the diameter of the opening in the sink or washbasin (usually 3.2 to 4.5 centimeters), and make sure the size of the faucet base can fully cover the opening to avoid the edge being exposed after installation. If it is a single-hole installation, it is necessary to ensure that the faucet base matches the opening. If it is a three-hole system (cold and hot water + spray gun), the distance between the holes needs to be measured (usually 15 to 20 centimeters).

The length and coverage of the water outlet

Choose the length of the spout according to your usage requirements: For kitchen sinks, it is recommended to select a 15-25 cm long spout style, which can expand the cleaning range. For the washbasin in the bathroom, a short spout of 10 to 15 centimeters can be chosen to prevent water from splashing. Measure the width of the sink or washbasin to ensure that the water outlet can cover the central area.

Handle operation space

If it is a single-handle faucet, make sure that the handle will not touch the rear wall or the side cabinet when rotating. For the dual-handle model, the distance between the two handles needs to be measured to ensure that both hands can operate simultaneously without interfering with each other. During the trial assembly, you can simulate the switch operation to check if it is smooth and unobstructed.

The matching degree between the water inlet pipe and the Angle valve

Measure the lateral and longitudinal distances from the existing Angle valve to the installation position to confirm that the length of the faucet inlet pipe is sufficient for connection. If the inlet pipe is too short, space should be reserved for installing an extension pipe. If it is too long, you can choose a style with an internal bendable design to avoid the hose being exposed and affecting the appearance.

Countertop thickness and installation method

Measure the thickness of the countertop (usually 2 to 5 centimeters) and confirm that the faucet installation nut can be fully tightened. If the countertop is too thick, you need to choose an extension screw or confirm whether the faucet comes with a suitable accessory. Some faucets need to be installed from under the countertop. Make sure there is sufficient operating space beneath.

The influence of additional functions on size

If the faucet is equipped with additional functions such as a pull-out nozzle, a rotating water outlet or a filter, it is necessary to ensure that it does not exceed the installation space when folded or stored. The cable length of the pull-out nozzle should match the depth of the sink to avoid being unable to fully retract after being pulled out.

Compatibility with peripheral devices

If there is a water purifier, dishwasher or soap dispenser beside the sink, measure the distance between them and the faucet to ensure that they do not interfere with each other during operation. For instance, the movement range of the pull-out faucet should avoid the faucet of the water purifier to prevent collision.

Reserve space for maintenance and replacement

After installation, make sure there is a gap of 5 to 10 centimeters around the faucet to facilitate future disassembly, maintenance or replacement of accessories such as the aerator and sealing ring. If the space is too narrow, the cabinet may need to be disassembled for maintenance, which will increase the later cost.

Simulate actual usage scenarios

Before purchasing, you can draw the faucet size in proportion on cardboard and place it on the sink or washbasin to simulate the usage effect. Focus on checking whether the position of the water outlet is appropriate, whether the handle operation is convenient, and whether the overall proportion is harmonious.

Through the above detailed measurements and comparisons, you can purchase a faucet that matches the size, is easy to operate and harmonizes with the space, avoiding installation difficulties or usage inconveniences caused by size mismatch.
